Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Data Analyst to support financial operations within a high-impact IT environment. This role focuses on analyzing and optimizing cloud and data center costs, supporting strategic decision-making, and enhancing financial transparency across enterprise systems.

Job Description

This role is part of the ITD FinOps team and is responsible for analyzing, modeling, and forecasting financial data across Azure cloud services and on-premises environments. The Data Analyst will play a critical role in cost optimization, financial reporting, and strategic planning by delivering actionable insights and maintaining high-quality data models.

Responsibilities

Technical Duties

  • Analyze and interpret IT financial data across Azure and VITA environments, including consumption, billing, and chargeback models
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize cost trends, migration impacts, and optimization opportunities
  • Perform variance analysis on monthly and annual IT expenditures to identify anomalies and cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain and enhance datasets from sources such as Apptio, Azure Portal, and SharePoint

Data & Reporting

  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness across multiple heterogeneous data sources
  • Document financial reporting processes and analytical methodologies
  • Build and refine data models to support forecasting and financial planning

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Partner with cloud engineering, infrastructure & operations, and finance teams to align cost models with operational realities
  • Support Azure migration planning through cost modeling and reserve capacity forecasting
  • Contribute to FinOps strategy by identifying cost drivers and utilization patterns


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field (4 years required)
  • 5+ years of advanced proficiency in Power BI (including Power Query and DAX), advanced Excel, and data visualization best practices
  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling and data manipulation across multiple heterogeneous data sources
  • 5+ years of experience with Azure cost management, Apptio, and cloud billing structures
  • 5+ years of experience in server migration strategies and workload cost modeling
  • 5+ years of experience translating technical data into actionable insights for technical teams and management
  • Candidate must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment (no offshore resources permitted)
  • Must be able to participate in a webcam interview
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • FinOps certification or related training
  • Experience with Azure Reserved Instances and Just-In-Time (JIT) capacity planning
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture and strategic IT planning frameworks

  • Hourly Pay Rate: $33/hr. – $53/hr.
