Job Summary: As a member of the IT Development team, the EDI Solutions Architect will provide support to manufacturing facilities and IT in the adoption, integration, implementation, and life cycle of services and processes as it relates to the delivery and support of software solutions across all functional areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Design
• Participate and contribute to brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for business needs or problems.
• Evaluate existing systems and identify areas for improvement.
• Design end-to-end solutions that meet scalability, performance, and maintainability requirements.
Technical Expertise
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Make informed decisions regarding system architecture, frameworks, and tools.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation.
• Support all RBC Corporate mandated security and compliance requirements.
Integration and Implementation
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions.
• Oversee the implementation process, ensuring alignment with best practices.
• Regularly update stakeholders on system architecture project developments.
Process Improvements
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements within the organization.
• Document testing requirements and ensure thorough testing of solutions.
Stakeholder Communication
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with business leaders, project managers, and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in information management / technology or related fields (computer science, information science, software engineering, etc.).
• 2–5 years of related experience.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
• Self-starter, strong team player, and collaborator.

IBM Sterling B2B Integrator
• Build and maintain business processes.
• Develop/maintain EDI X12 mappings using Sterling map editor.
• Implement partner onboarding.
• Manage digital certificates (PGP, TLS, CA chains).
• Create and enhance error handling, alerts, retries, and exception routing.
• Maintain Sterling Control Center (SCC) dashboards, alerts, and reporting.
• SQL Databases: auditing/reporting; SI persistence, archiving, and purge strategy.

SAP
• Experience working with SAP IDocs.
• Understand how IDocs are triggered from SAP.
• Understand how IDocs are consumed by Sterling Integrator.
• Collaborate with SAP functional teams to support inbound and outbound IDoc flows, error reprocessing, testing, and data validation.

Physical Requirements:
• Extended periods of sitting and/or standing at a workstation.
• Speaking in person and over the telephone or Teams online and the ability to hear, comprehend, and document detailed information from others.
• Ability to type, reach and grasp.
• Intermittent standing and walking within the office environment.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing for extended periods over the phone and in person.
• Occasional lifting or carrying objects weighing less than 10 lbs.

Essential Job Functions:
• Support the process of collecting and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide training and support to employees in IT systems and equipment.
• Assist Business Process Owners (BPOs) with gathering business requirements and facilitating the translation of those requirements into functional and technical design documents.
• Support the installation, management, maintenance, and optimization of IT solutions and services.
• Consult with relevant stakeholders across the business to ensure compliance with RBC IT enterprise architecture.
• Provide leadership to 3rd party and internal IT resources, guiding and monitoring task completion, and sharing expert knowledge and advice.
• Provide technical recommendations based on objective evaluation of IT solutions.
• Other tasks/duties/projects as assigned.
• Travel as required to support plant-based solutions.
• Attendance at work is a necessary function of the role.
