Qualifications

Job Title:                               Systems Administrator

Reports To:                           IT Director

Summary:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the agency’s IT environment. This role supports clinical, administrative, and operational staff by maintaining systems critical to patient care, data security, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in hybrid Microsoft environments, a service-oriented mindset, and experience supporting healthcare or behavioral health organizations.

 

Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support hybrid Active Directory environments, including on-premises AD integrated with Microsoft Entra ID
  • Manage hybrid-joined and cloud-joined devices across the organization
  • Maintain user accounts, group policies, conditional access, and identity lifecycle processes
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, availability, and reliability
  • Manage Windows devices using Microsoft Intune
  • Lead and support conversions from traditional Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to Microsoft Intune configuration profiles
  • Design, deploy, and maintain device compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployments
  • Support device enrollment, lifecycle management, and remote troubleshooting
  • Implement and maintain security controls to protect sensitive data, including PHI
  • Support compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manage endpoint security, patching, vulnerability remediation, and access controls
  • Assist with security audits, risk assessments, and incident response
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for staff, resolving complex system and device issues
  • Create and maintain system documentation, standards, and procedures
  • Train staff on system use, security best practices, and new technologies
  • Collaborate with IT leadership on infrastructure planning and modernization initiatives
  • Recommend and implement system improvements to enhance reliability, security, and scalability
  • Stay current with Microsoft cloud technologies, endpoint management trends, and cybersecurity best practices
  • Participate in an after-hours response to cybersecurity alerts, system outages, and critical technical incidents. This includes investigating security events, coordinating incident response, restoring services, and escalating issues as needed to protect organizational systems and data.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in systems administration or related IT roles
  • Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
  • Hands-on experience managing hybrid AD / Microsoft Entra ID environments
  • Experience managing hybrid-joined and Entra-joined devices
  • Demonstrated experience migrating or converting Group Policy to Microsoft Intune
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Intune device and application management
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls)
  • Ability and willingness to participate in after-hours on-call support and respond to urgent security or infrastructure incidents outside of normal business hours

 

Physical Demands:

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, computer, printer, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
  • Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Ability to drive to locations within and outside of Ohio and be eligible for auto insurance coverage under organization’s plan.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.  The employee must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds.  The employee must be capable of bending, reaching, crouching, and climbing.
