Honeywell is seeking a Lead Software Architect to help define and drive the technical direction for next‑generation, cloud‑based products with a strong focus on hands‑on software development, AI/ML systems, and scalable architecture.
This role sits within the Innovation, Architecture, and Threat Intelligence organization and plays a key role in shaping how modern software platforms are designed, built, and evolved across multiple products and teams.
You will report directly to the Chief Architect and work out of our Atlanta, GA location on a hybrid schedule.
This is a hands‑on technical leadership role focused on coding, architecture, and influence. You will work closely with senior engineers, data scientists, and product teams to design and prototype high‑impact solutions from the earliest stages.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Software Architecture & Development (Primary Focus)
- Lead the design and development of modern software architectures for cloud and distributed platforms using Python, C#, .NET, React, and microservices frameworks
- Remain hands‑on in code, building prototypes, validating designs, and guiding implementation decisions
- Partner with engineering teams to define scalable, maintainable, and high‑performance architectures
AI / ML Engineering & Data Platforms (Primary Focus)
- Architect and contribute to AI/ML solutions used in product features and platform capabilities
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to design end‑to‑end ML pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
- Help teams adopt best practices for production‑grade AI/ML systems in cloud environments
Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Design systems for cloud‑native and containerized environments
- Guide teams on architecture decisions across Azure, GCP, or AWS
- Ensure solutions are built with scalability, reliability, and performance in mind
Technical Leadership & Influence
- Act as a senior technical authority, influencing architecture decisions across multiple teams
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical discussions, and hands‑on collaboration
- Research emerging technologies and help translate them into practical product innovations
Security & Resilience (Supporting Focus)
- Partner with security and platform teams to ensure secure‑by‑design principles are integrated into modern architectures
QualificationsMust‑Have

10+ years of experience in software engineering, software architecture, or related technical roles

Strong hands‑on coding experience in one or more of the following: Python, C#, .NET, React
- Proven experience designing and building distributed, cloud‑based systems
- Practical experience working with or alongside AI/ML engineers or data scientists
- Demonstrated ability to lead technically, influence architecture decisions, and work across teams
We Value
- Experience as an AI/ML engineer, data engineer, or data scientist
- Experience building or supporting ML pipelines in production
- Cloud platform experience (Azure, GCP, AWS)
- Familiarity with containerized and microservice‑based architectures
- Exposure to cybersecurity concepts or secure system design
- Prior experience acting as a senior technical advisor or architect
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
