Systems Administration

General Purpose 

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of assigned systems and participates in strategic planning efforts, capacity planning, governance, technical design of these systems and the resolution of daily problems and tasks. Serves as an advisor to the IT Leadership team for National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity, Center of Internet Security (CIS) and other security and system hardening framework and alignment controls and systems. Supports both physical and virtual environments.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs/fixes for related system software and hardware related problems to ensure stable performance of systems.
  • Responsible for the application security process, active directory integration, security permissions, and auditing of system and server permissions.
  • Research system requirements for upgrades and future migrations. 
  • Recommends and implements policies and standards and ensures adherence to security procedures.
  • Prepares and executes testing and data validation of new applications and features.
  • Responsible for maintenance and support of application interfaces, release upgrades, and patch installation to keep all systems up to date.  May require of working outside of normal schedule during upgrades or system outages.
  • Evaluate system specifications, input, and output processes, and working parameters for hardware and software.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of this position. 

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Help Desk, internal departments, end-users, and software vendors to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Works with Infrastructure team in planning and implementation of additional features and ancillary products of these systems to ensure network performance remains consistent with the needs of the users.
  • Works closely with vendors’ support personnel to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner. 
  • This position requires some PowerShell scripting and workflow development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications 

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • High overall technical knowledge of IT systems.
  • Handles complex issues and problems, referring only complex issues to higher lever teams.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking with ability to make decisions with minimum direct supervision.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of assigned system.
  • Is detail orientated, able to multi-task with the able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must exhibit strong teamwork ethics, a willingness to be active in department and bank functions, help with projects, and exhibit a positive attitude. 

Education or Formal Training:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience with standard industry certifications.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License is required. 

The successful candidate will need to obtain the following internal training within 12 months of being hired:

  • Industry certification of assigned system. 

Experience:

  • 5+ years working in information technology. 
  • 2+ years working on assigned system preferred 

Working Conditions 

Working Environment: 

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.  Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations is required.  Additional requirements include semi-annual disaster recovery testing and occasional application updates on weekends or evenings.  May include on-call, after hours and weekends support when needed.

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  Employee also may have to lift up to 25 lbs.

Starting Rate of Pay is from $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year, depending on experience.
