POSITION SUMMARY

Students or 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply for this introductory position supporting the goals of the St. Clair County RESA (SCCRESA) IT department. The Temporary Part-Time Technician will primarily focus on project initiatives and Helpdesk tickets. Additional duties include providing troubleshooting, problem resolution, asset management, and infrastructure support. Note: This is a temporary position. The last day of work will be Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

SUPERVISION

Reports to: Director, Associate Directors, & Client Service Managers of IT, SCCRESA

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

An employee in this classification, upon appointment, must have the following training and experience:

  • Work Ethic & Adaptability: Excellent attendance, schedule management, and ability to follow written and verbal directions. Highly adaptable to changing environments, competing demands, and frequent interruptions.
  • Communication: Strong ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Capable of understanding technical manuals, procedures, and spoken instructions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Works effectively both independently and collaboratively. Receptive to supervision, feedback, and coaching. Maintains patience, respect, and discretion when handling sensitive information or difficult situations.
  • Administrative & Client Service: Strong client service principles, basic mathematical aptitude, and high accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient skills using Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION

  1. Student or recent graduate, preferred.
  2. Ability to:
  • Provide professional, helpful remote and on-site IT support.
  • Understand, utilize, and familiarize oneself with a variety of technologies, networks, and SCCRESA/client systems.
  • Install and remove computer equipment and software.
  • Consistently and descriptively utilize the ticketing system.
  • Travel to remote sites as needed.
  • Maintain flexible working hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide remote and on-site IT support to SCCRESA and its clients, adhering to service agreements.
  2. Assist with project initiatives and overall IT department functions.
  3. Install, troubleshoot, and maintain computer equipment and software.
  4. Maintain detailed and accurate records within the ticketing system.
  5. Foster positive relationships with clients, vendors, and team members in a collaborative environment.
  6. Transport computer equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  7. Comply with all safety rules, departmental norms, and SCCRESA policies.
  8. Promote the vision, mission, and values of the department and SCCRESA.
  9. Perform other assignments as specified by IT Leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Communicate effectively (speaking and hearing) to convey and receive information.
  • Operate computers, handle materials, and use equipment.
  • Push or pull carts; reach forward, above, and below shoulder level.
  • Sit, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, stand, walk, and climb stairs in an ergonomically correct manner.
  • Lift and transport box/equipment weights up to fifty (50) pounds to an approximate height of six (6) feet.
  • Be present during normal office hours (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and maintain focus in a work environment with moderate noise and frequent interruptions.
