Position Summary
The Desktop Support Intern provides hands‑on technical support to end users across clinical and administrative environments under the supervision of senior IT staff. This role offers practical experience in enterprise desktop support, device lifecycle management, and customer service within a healthcare setting. The intern will assist with routine support tasks while gaining exposure to IT operations, security practices, and clinical technology workflows.
Eligibility Requirement
Summer student employees must be enrolled in or registered at an accredited college or university, or entering college in the upcoming fall term.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, registered at, or entering an accredited college or university
- Interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and common productivity software
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow documented procedures and accept direction
- Reliable attendance and professional demeanor
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior coursework or experience in IT, help desk, or technical support
- Familiarity with ticketing systems or service management tools
- Exposure to hardware troubleshooting or PC assembly
- Interest in healthcare IT or clinical technology environments
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with setup, deployment, and relocation of desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, networking and peripherals
- Respond to basic service requests and incidents under supervision, escalating issues as appropriate
- Support device refreshes, workstation moves, and new hire onboarding activities
- Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware, operating systems, and standard applications
- Assist with inventory management, asset tagging, and documentation updates
- Support user account provisioning tasks as directed (e.g., password resets, access requests)
- Provide professional, customer‑focused support to clinical and non‑clinical staff
- Follow all corporate, IT security, privacy, and HIPAA guidelines at all times
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and shadowing opportunities

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to approximately 25 lbs.)
- Ability to walk between departments and work in clinical and office settings
- Work may involve standing, bending, or reaching during equipment setup
Supervision
This position works under the direct supervision of a Supervisor, Desktop Support or Manager, Endpoint Management and Operations.
Pay Rate $17.00/hour
