The Iron County School District is seeking a Full Time Systems Administrator.
The Systems Administrators (Sys Admins) maintain internal IT systems, hardware, and software in compliance with CIS framework standards to support district goals. They provide daily technical support to employees, students, and stakeholders while collaborating with district, state, and vendor technology teams. Key responsibilities include implementing system upgrades, ensuring security, managing video surveillance for physical security, and conducting asset inventory and auditing.
- Knowledge of Operating Systems and Infrastructure: Deep knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, AD FS) and Linux server environments, with basic TCP/IP knowledge.
- Knowledge of Virtualization and Containerization: Implementation and management of virtual infrastructure (VMware ESXi).
- Understanding of Systems Storage: Experience with SAN/NAS storage networking, file services (NFS/SMB), and data replication technologies.
- Understanding of Internal Network Services: DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
- Understanding of Enterprise PKI and Security: Management of Microsoft Certificate Authority, NPS/RADIUS, and endpoint security agents.
- Understanding of Monitoring Systems: Proficient in using SNMP, WMI, and system-level monitoring (e.g., SolarWinds, Zabbix) to track CPU, memory, and disk health.
- Understanding of Systems Automation: Implementation of host-level automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Ensure System Continuity: Ensure 24/7 uptime for servers, critical applications, and data availability throughout the organization.
- Server Provisioning: Provisioning, configuring, and deploying new virtual and physical servers.

Licensing and Renewals:
- Tracking: Maintaining an inventory of software versions, hardware assets, and license expiry dates to stay compliant.
- Renewing: Monitoring, negotiating, and extending service agreements to avoid service lapses.
- Applying: Actively managing and deploying license keys and entitlements to authorized users and devices.
- Coordinate with Network/Security Teams: Coordinate with Network Administrators on connectivity and Firewall Administrators for application security requirements.
- Manage System Security: Implement security patches, updates, and harden operating systems (servers and workstations).
- Manage Data Backup and Recovery: Manage backups (e.g., Veeam, CrashPlan), retention policies, and maintain disaster recovery readiness.
- Troubleshoot Server/Application Performance: Troubleshoot system latency, resource bottlenecks, and application failures.
- Provide System Support: Provide on-call/on-site support for server outages, infrastructure incidents and maintenance windows.
- Coordinate Maintenance Windows: Schedule and perform system-level maintenance windows and patches.
