IT Support Specialist



Reports to: IT Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (One (1) Hour Lunch)

Job Location: 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH  43207- This position is primarily in person, with hybrid work capabilities.

 

General Overview: The IT Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact on the IT helpdesk, providing technical support for hardware, software, and field operations. This role supports business continuity by delivering timely, effective solutions and upholding the Company’s values of Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the first point of contact for the IT Helpdesk and responds to support requests promptly
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software issues
  • Collaborates with departments to identify issues and implement effective solutions
  • Deploys and maintains desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones
  • Prepares onboarding for new hires by creating user accounts, configuring cell phones, iPads, and computers, and arranging desk workstations
  • Offboards employees by disabling user access and retrieving company-issued equipment
  • Installs and maintains internet and network connectivity, printers/scanners, and workstations in job trailers
  • Maintains an accurate inventory for all IT hardware assets
  • Manages multifunction printer inventory and maintenance
  • Procures hardware and accessories as needed
  • Manages day-to-day wireless carrier accounts, including activations, deactivations, and plan administration
  • Assists with implementing technology solutions as needed
  • Knows and adheres to all Company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an IT helpdesk or technical support role
  • Must maintain an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company’s eligibility requirements
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a Substance Use Prevention and Recovery Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana)

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Proficient in Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365/Exchange user provisioning
  • Proficient with using, troubleshooting, and provisioning iOS devices (iPhones, iPads)
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)
  • Experience with deployment, provisioning, and troubleshooting of Windows-based desktops and laptops
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (MDM, Intune, or similar)
  • Experience with Apple ADE/DEP/VPP deployment programs
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk and remain physically active for extended periods on uneven surfaces
  • Ability to crouch and bend
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to read and comprehend information from written materials
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel to and from the primary workplace daily, as well as to off-site locations such as job sites.
