Description

Position Summary

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for independently managing and maintaining the organization's cloud infrastructure, network systems, and physical security technology. This position serves as the primary administrator for Microsoft 365 cloud services, Ubiquiti UniFi network and security infrastructure, and Windows and Linux server environments. The role includes providing technical helpdesk support and mentoring staff on technology best practices. The IT Systems Administrator reports to the Director of IT Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra ID.
  • Manage user provisioning, licensing, groups, permissions, MFA, and conditional access policies.
  • Manage Microsoft Intune for device management and endpoint security.
  • Maintain cloud security configurations, compliance settings, and data retention policies.

2. Network & Security Infrastructure (Ubiquiti UniFi)

  • Maintain UniFi switches, access points, gateways, VLANs, and firewall rules.
  • Administer UniFi Protect surveillance systems (camera configuration, retention, access).
  • Manage UniFi Access door control systems including credentials and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues and maintain documentation.

3. Server & Systems Administration

  • Maintain Windows Server and Linux systems including patching and security hardening.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper V, or Proxmox).
  • Monitor system health and performance; maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Support endpoint protection tools and automate tasks using PowerShell.

4. Helpdesk & User Support

  • Provide Tier 1 to 3 support for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Maintain helpdesk ticketing workflows and documentation.
  • Provide training and create knowledge base resources for staff.

5. IT Operations & Projects

  • Assist with IT projects, upgrades, migrations, and new system implementations.
  • Manage IT asset inventory, procurement, and lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate with vendors and support compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA security controls).
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of IT systems administration experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID).
  • Experience with IP based cameras and physical access control.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Hands on experience with Ubiquiti UniFi network equipment (switches, access points, gateways) strongly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified, CompTIA Network+, or similar

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Windows Server administration and working knowledge of Linux systems.
  • Proficiency with Ubiquiti UniFi network equipment.
  • Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewall management.
  • PowerShell scripting/automation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non technical users.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Additional scripting skills (Python or Bash).

Physical Requirements

  • Must have sufficient mobility to move, including bend, stoop, reach, lift and grasp.
  • Ability to lift or move objects of 50 lbs. or less on a daily basis.
  • Meeting vaccine standards as outlined in Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
