Job Summary

The Security Engineer I plays a key role in maintaining the safety and integrity of CMN’s systems and data. This cybersecurity position supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of security operations. Working within the Cybersecurity team, the role performs hands-on technical tasks such as vulnerability management, incident response, performance testing, and compliance tracking. The Security Engineer I is ideal for someone with foundational experience in cybersecurity who is ready to grow their career in a mission-driven organization.

Core Duties

  1. Cybersecurity Operations: Support the deployment and monitoring of required security measures, such as firewalls, message encryption, and access controls. Assist with ongoing threat detection and resolution of security incidents.
  2. Incident Response & Fault Resolution: Respond to internal support tickets and help identify, isolate, and mitigate potential security threats. Document incidents and contribute to the refinement of response protocols.
  3. Testing & Monitoring: Perform testing of applications, websites, and systems for vulnerabilities or performance concerns; monitor and track issues using established platforms and escalate as needed.
  4. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain high-quality documentation of technical processes, incidents, and compliance activities. Assist with audits and the enforcement of organizational policies and procedures. 5.
  5. Policy and Process Support: Contribute to the development and implementation of security procedures, risk management protocols, and disaster recovery plans.
  6. Continuous Learning: Stay current on cybersecurity best practices, technologies, and threats. Engage in training, certifications, and professional development opportunities to grow skillsets and support organizational goals.

Additional Duties

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support secure software development practices.
  2. Monitor and report on the status of vulnerability remediation efforts.
  3. Assist with security awareness training and phishing simulations.
  4. Contribute to periodic reviews of penetration test results and support remediation planning.
  5. Interface with third-party vendors on routine evaluations of security services or tools.
  6. Support data loss prevention, encryption standards, and privacy controls.
  7. Prepare clear reports and summaries of incidents, risks, and system health for technical and nontechnical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in IT operations or cybersecurity-related roles, including familiarity with monitoring tools, scripting, and troubleshooting basic security issues.

Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification preferred.

 

Job Location: This role is based in Utah and will require in office work at our SLC headquarters a minimum of 2-3 days per week. Candidates must live within commuting distance of our office.
